Vice Ganda sends a poignant message on nationalism in her entry to the Asoka TikTok trend. The comedienne chose to do her makeup to the tune of Angeline Quinto's Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas, wearing not just one but two heritage-inspired looks.

In the now-viral reel posted on TikTok and Instagram, Vice lip-syncs the song as she changes from her boudoir look, to a pink polka-dotted Filipiniana dress, and finally to an iridescent pearl-embellished white gown.
However, the video didn't end with the transformation as it also depicted scenarios that make choosing the Philippines—as the song says—an arduous task. The superstar can be seen getting caught in traffic, visiting infamous sites near national monuments, and waving our flag at the West Philippine Sea.
"Kahit mahirap kang ipaglaban, pinipili pa rin kita, Pilipinas," it reads on the closing frame. The video has since gained millions of views across social media, with many commending Vice for her poignant yet patriotic entry into the trend.
Neric Beltran on Vice Ganda's Perlas Ng Silangan Terno Dress
The white terno Vice wore for the majority of the video was a collaboration between Neric Beltran and Jaggy Glarino, two of the comedienne's go-to designers.
"The gown was made from tulle and pleated organdy from Jaggy," Neric explains. "We embellished it with different sizes of pearl and paillets fashioned into petals for added texture."
Aptly named the "Perlas ng Silangan" dress, the piece was actually a rework of an existing gown that Vice had already worn prior.
Previously, its bodice was more sheer and had frilly sleeves. It took Neric and their team two days to fully embellish the frock and incorporate the butterfly sleeves. This repurposing was done with the intent of creating something "distinctly Filipino" for Vice's video.
