Valentino confirms that its co-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri is stepping down, leaving the other half of the duo, Pierpaolo Piccioli, at the helm of the house.
Chiuri will join Christian Dior as its creative head, replacing Raf Simons who vacated the said position last fall. She will be making history as Dior’s first ever female creative director in the house’s 70-year history.
Chiuri and Piccioli had been working together for 25 years from Fendi until they were both appointed to lead the Valentino house. The duo has been known to revamp Valentino, making the brand synonymous to romance with a touch of edge. This year’s fall couture week in Paris is the duo’s last show together.
