Fashion inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. Case in point: Slavik, a homeless man from Lviv, Ukraine, who became an internet sensation and fashion muse. Between 2011 and 2013, photographer Yurko Dyachyshyn captured over 100 images of Slavik’s ever-evolving wardrobe, documenting his daily fashion transformations.
Unlike most who live on the streets, Slavik never wore the same outfit twice. His carefully curated looks showcased his creativity and innate style.

He didn’t hoard belongings or dig through trash cans, and he kept to himself, rarely engaging with other homeless people or even members of his own Romani community. However, no one really knew where he lived. But his ability to maintain such an air of mystery only made his story more intriguing.
2. He never wore the same outfit twice.
The main thing that stood out about Slavik was his next-level commitment to style. Every single day—sometimes even twice a day—he would appear in a brand-new outfit, carefully layered and styled as if he had a personal shopper. His wardrobe came entirely from discarded clothing and donations, yet his outfits always seemed deliberate, effortlessly mixing patterns, colors, and silhouettes in ways that would make a fashion editor take notes. He also regularly changed his hairstyle and beard shape.
3. He became an unlikely fashion muse.
The internet has spotted undeniable similarities between Slavik’s layered, oversized aesthetic and collections from high-end designers like Balenciaga and VTMNTS. Whether intentional or not, his street-style ingenuity resonated with people who saw his ability to create runway-worthy looks out of whatever he could find.
