Being spotted with a fake designer bag is usually a red flag among fashion enthusiasts. Often, it's the big ticket pieces such as the Hermès Birkin or the Chanel Flap, two ultra-popular carriers that boast pompous price tags, which get thrown into the imitation game.
Every now and then, some independent brands take the fashion faux pax and utilize it to their advantage. If we were to refer to the newest addition to actress Maine Mendoza's bag roster, they can also make quite the mic-drop-worthy statement.

Culminating the month of October, Maine shared a couple of unreleased snaps through an Instagram carousel. The actress went on a couple of trips throughout the month, which tasked her to cop a new carry-on to house her in-flight essentials. Her pick was a moss green purse that looked every bit just like a Birkin, save for the disclaimer written on its exterior.
"You Fake Like This Birkin," the bag read. As similar as it looked to the Hermès original, the tote was in fact a counterfeit version customized with handpainted text. Such a sassy piece was from the Los Angeles-based brand Saturday House.
What Is Saturday House?
Founded by Sonique Saturday, the brand distinguishes itself with its line-up of bags that own up to their ingenuity. Since 2014, they've been making custom orders for clients who wanted to personalize their totes with statements such as "Yep It's Vegan" or "Your Dad Bought This."
The idea was to make the "fake" Birkin their core branding after shoppers at Melrose started taking notice of the kitschy design. The luxury bag police may claim the bags to be inauthentic, but each one is still a one-of-one, given that they are all painted by hand. This also means that stocks are limited and can sell out pretty swiftly.
Saturday House has since expanded to Chanel purses, which aptly exclaim "You Fake Like This Chanel." Seasonal offerings of different models, in various colors and sizes, are available year-round.
