Plastic fantastic!

It was a grand time to be had at the Preview Ball 2024, and Sassa Gurl definitely had an outfit that totally passed the vibe check. This year's ball was held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts with a nude color palette for the guests to come in. Sassa's clever interpretation had her dressed as a stripped-down version of a Barbie doll!

"Barbie can be anything," she tells Preview. "Barbie is made naked and I deeply connect to that." Her Preview Ball look was styled by frequent collaborator Ian Rey and perfectly embodied a glamorous version of a naked Barbie. She wore a catsuit by Christian Paculan that covered her hands and feet to create the illusion of shiny plastic. Adorning her wrists were decadent arm stacks that matched her fiery-hued necklace and earrings for a full-on coordinated look. But our favorite outfit detail was the clothespin chain belt that cinched her at the waist that referenced Barbie's ever-changing wardrobe.

Sassa said it best: "Being vulnerable and being authentic is like being naked. It doesn’t make you less of anything, it’s a rebellious act of reclaiming yourself and finally becoming who you could be. Besides, the possibility of what a stripped Barbie could become next is limitless."

Her chiseled makeup was done by Aries Night, who made use of light and shadow to carve out and highlight her features. As for her picture-perfect ponytail, her wig was done by Margaux Bertrand of @wigsbymargaux for that quintessential Barbie look.

With "authenticity" being the theme of the night, Preview asked how she is able to play different characters while still staying authentic to her true self. To our delight she jovially replied: "I always champion my roots," she tells Preview. "Binibida ko sa mga eksenang meron ako ang talent, grit, at politika na meron ako. Hindi matatapos ang Sassa Gurl show nang 'di ako makakapaglusot ng kultura ng kalsada at kabaklaan."
