The dress is worth over P270,000!

For her much-awaited walk down the aisle, a bride’s armor is her wedding gown. Whether they opt for a pantsuit or the more traditional gown, choosing the regalia is an event in itself—and oftentimes, it comes with a price tag a tad heavy on the pockets.

But like most frocks, there’s a thriftier alternative found on the racks of ukay-ukay stores. Case in point: After a lucky shopper uncovered a P500,000 Versace in a thrift shop, another gal spotted her dream designer wedding gown for only P2,700!

TikTok User Finds a Designer Wedding Gown at an Ukay-Ukay Worth Over P260,000

The Alabama-based content creator Ophelia Nichols (@shoelover99) took to TikTok to share her thrift shop gem. Holding up a bundle of ivory white cloth, the user unraveled the floor-length piece to reveal the creation: a bridal gown from luxury designer brand Romona Keveza.

In a separate Instagram post, the content creator shared a zoomed-in shot of the gown’s tag, which brandished the designer’s “Legends” collection label. In the next shot, Ophelia pointed out its original price tag of $4,819 (approximately P263,420), despite her only paying $50 (approximately P2,700) at an antique shop.

Ophelia—nicknamed Mama Tot among her followers—has long been married to her husband “Papa Tot,” and expressed that the piece was her “dream wedding gown” if only she spotted it a few years back. Despite netizens’ suggestions that she wear the gown to her vow renewals, Ophelia offered to give away the Romona Keveza creation to one of her Alabama-based bride-to-be followers who can’t afford a designer gown.

“I cried when I put this dress in my truck because I would have given anything to have this years ago when I got married, and I know that it would mean something to one of you,” she said in the video.

“Sure, I could get it cleaned and sell it on eBay for whatever, but no, I want somebody else to have this experience that I didn't get a chance to have.”
