About Pristine Paradigm
Pristine Paradigm is a Davao-based jewelry brand founded by Katriana Batu, a 25-year-old industrial engineer. Alongside her partner, Juni Rollan, the duo set up the brand in 2023. With a wide selection of classically designed rings and dainty necklaces, the brand has since grown in popularity, especially among young adult and Gen Z consumers.
Katriana, or Yana as she is known to her closest, credits her affinity for jewelry to her grandmother. Throughout her childhood in Davao, Yana would peruse through her lola's vanity filled with fine jewelry. "That's really where my love for jewelry began," she recounts.
Pristine Paradigm is ultimately a fusion of Yana's love for jewelry and her commitment to sustainability. By championing lab-grown gemstones, the brand aims to imprint positive change in the industry by offering responsibly made, high-quality pieces at accessible prices. Pristine Paradigm is, as its mission statement declares, "where sustainability meets luxury," a guiding principle since its inception.
What are lab-grown gemstones?
In a brief interview with Preview at the brand's anniversary event on July 31, 2024, Yana provided insights into the creation of lab-grown gemstones. "They're exactly the same as natural gemstones; they're just made in a lab under the same physical and chemical conditions that produce natural gemstones," she explained. This innovative process thus eliminates the need for mining, avoiding the consequential environmental damage.
