While she may own her share of designer items, Pops Fernandez is not the type to easily splurge on them. Before making a purchase, she says that has to convince herself "20 million times"!

In her interview with PEP Spotlight, she rationalized, "Because at the end of the day, madami na akong gamit, hindi ko na kailangan pa."
She continued: "Minsan, kunwari, syempre mga [branded] names, may gusto ako, kinu-convince ko pa 'yung sarili ko 20 million times."
Pops would often hold off purchasing an item to give herself more time to decide if it would be worth buying. "Kailangan 'yung hindi ako makatulog. Hindi ba ako nakatulog? Inisip ko ba 'yung bag na 'yun? Normally, nakakatulog ako, e. So ibig sabihin, it's a sign. I don't need it."
"'Pag the next day 'yun pa rin na naisip ko, kailangan ko yata bilhin kasi hindi ko siya makalimutan," she added.
The funny thing is, she often finds herself feeling regretful after making the purchase. "Oh my God, kailangan magtrabaho pala ako uli. Ganun lang, it's just that whole process."
According to the singer, one other reason why she holds off collecting designer items is that she doesn't have a daughter to pass on the items to.
"Wala naman akong daughter. Mas nagtipid pa ako lalo. I was just very subconscious about saving, saving, saving, saving," she said. "And thank God I was, because I benefited from it."
Pops also showed discipline before when it came to her finances, as she had began to earn money at a young age. True to her promise as a kid, she saved most of the money she made from her showbiz projects.
"Ever since, mahilig na ako sa damit at mahilig na ako magdamit," she said. "So meron lang akong konting budget, Esprit, Benetton, iyan 'yung uso nung araw. Happy na ako noon. Other than that, wala naman akong gustong bilhin."
