Trained by her days in pageantry, Queen P has a tried-and-tested regimen after a day of being on her feet.

Pia Wurtzbach has practically been in heels for her entire career. Her days in pageantry have trained her to strut in stilts, which proves to be a useful skill now that she treads the streets of global fashion weeks.

Though, we all know that being on one's feet the whole day, especially in heels, has some physical strains. More often than not, your muscles will be in need of some serious recovery. To address such situations, Pia has a not-so-secret regimen that's become her go-to.

Given her line of work, the beauty queen perpetually finds herself in a pair of heels, which, of course, she has no problem with given her sense of style. However, she attests to how taxing it can be to wear towering heels all day.

"Nakakaubos kasi ng energy when you wear heels all day," she shares, "I really try to only wear them when I have to, if it's for fashion week for example. And then I change into something comfortable like flats or my Skechers Slip-Ins."

At this point, Pia has gotten used to standing on heels for hours on end. While she doesn't have a specific "trick" to alleviate the pain, she does have a go-to remedy when her muscles start to feel strained.

The first thing she does as soon as she gets home? "Try epsom salt," she states.

"If your whole body is really sore, maybe after a hard workout or a day where you were just on your feet, babad mo lang yung paa mo sa epsom salt. It really works. That's a little hack that I learned during Miss Universe from my co-candidates."

Scientifically speaking, epsom salt is a chemical compound comprised of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. When dissolved in bath water, it's commonly believed that the aforementioned minerals can be absorbed through the skin, which alleviates soreness. However, some researchers argued that warm water on its own can already address such ailments.

Benefits of Using Epsom Salt

Epsom salt, which is alternatively referred to as bath salt given its common usage, is readily available in drug stores and online. Aside from muscle recovery, its other claimed health benefits include reduced pain and stress, better sleep, and improved skin health. Soaking one's body in an epsom salt bath has no reported side effects or risks.
