Familiar with those "paparazzi perspective" Instagram reels where someone pretends to cross the street, run errands, or take phone calls? Well, aside from its popularity online (which local celebrities have been replicating too), it seems to have created a sartorial aesthetic akin to typical model off-duty style.
Model off-duty style was something that began in the time of supermodels like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crawford, which is probably why this aesthetic is largely inspired by the '90s. Outfits range from the minimalistic, preppy, to grunge. There are also traces of French girl chic, perhaps from the ubiquity of Mary Janes right now.
More than just nailing a paparazzi-like photo, the trend is all about embracing one's personal style in the context of everyday life. In the words of Rhea Bue from a recent IG post, "in my 'romanticizing busy background for fit checks' era." Yup, that sums up this trend alright!
Check out 12 celebrities who have been experimenting with this aesthetic:
1. Anne Curtis dons casual sporty-meets-preppy in a khaki skirt with utilitarian pockets paired with a classic white tank. The pièce de résistance? An Alaïa mesh bag.
2. Julia Barretto takes a coffee break in a black muscle tee, light-wash jeans, and block heel Mary Jane pumps. Note: Block heels make the perfect comfy errand shoe for those who prefer heels.

4. Max Collins is the queen of off-duty style, nailing one look after another. She isn’t afraid to take bolder fashion choices, like this oversized leather jacket.
5. Following the trail is Rhian Ramos who is known for her love of neutrals and clean style. Here she embodies a busy girlboss on the run in a boxy blazer, button-down, and gold accessories.
6. Bella Racelis proves that you can never go wrong with a simple outfit! The key is to inject a trendy piece, like her ballet flats or her Louis Vuitton chain hobo bag.
7. Cropped tanks seem to be a favorite element in this trend. Michelle Dee goes for a glamorous look in a black maxi skirt and belt reminiscent of ‘90s model off-duty looks!
8. There are many sides to Kelsey Merritt’s personal style but for this particular look she opted for preppy. The star of the show is her pair of cool girl Adidas Sambas.

12. Rhea Bue dresses down a navy blue jumpsuit with a short-sleeved jacket and white sneakers. A tall cup of coffee is optional (but necessary if you truly are busy).
