Having just turned 18 earlier this 2024, Niana Guerrero boldly enters a new era of her life. Part and parcel with this coming of age is a refreshed sense of style, which she collaborates on with stylist Lyn Alumno. At the Preview Ball 2024, the Best Dressed honoree turned heads in an exquisite ensemble by emerging Filipino designers.

When you ask Niana to describe her personal style, only one word comes to mind: "Cool." Reeling from the time they've worked together, Lyn shares that, "Niana always has that effortless, don’t-F-with me vibe to her. She has a certain comfort zone when it comes to fashion but I’m glad that slowly, she’s warming up to the idea of becoming more experimental."

This experimental approach was best exemplified by Niana's look at the Preview Ball. Swathed around her figure was a custom thermal heat-inspired tailored set from Kristine Ordinario, airbrushed by Mark Ranque. "The concept came to my mind while rewatching the 1988 Japanese animated movie Akira, and a weekend binge-watch of Charlie’s Angels from the 2000s," Lyn says.
According to the stylist, her runway references were Jean Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli from the early aughts. "I’ve always been fascinated by badass females and retro futurism. Hence, the trompe l'oeil thermal print. The silhouette alone is sharp in hindsight, but has these little details to let you know that she’s also no longer afraid to explore less boxy and sleeker pieces."
"I tapped emerging Filipina designer Kristine Ordinario because she knows how to work with stiff fabrics like leather and suede and yet is able to dress women with no constrictions," she continued. "Mark Ranque on the other hand is known in the industry as a stylist but has been exploring different mediums too as a designer, which I believe hits a good balance."

Later that evening, she received her trophy alongside her fellow Best Dressed honorees. Lyn states that while Niana is still on her way to being a "fashion icon," she's willing to keep putting in the work. "For now, she's just enjoying the ride," she states.
