This year’s VSFW promised inclusivity, but many aren’t entirely convinced.

When news broke in 2019 that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was being canceled, it felt like the end of an era. What was once one of the most anticipated events in fashion had fallen out of step with the times, its downfall fueled by criticisms around a lack of diversity, outdated beauty ideals, and declining viewership. Now, five years later, the iconic show has returned—but not everyone is thrilled.

In 2024, Victoria’s Secret made its big comeback, promising to showcase a more inclusive vision of femininity. With an all-women performer lineup and a supposedly more diverse group of models, the brand seemed to be trying to shake off its old image. But despite the buzz, netizens had mixed feelings about the show’s return.

What Happened at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024?

For some, the nostalgia alone was enough to stir excitement. After all, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was known for its supermodel moments and larger-than-life performances, and this year’s show brought back some of that magic.

The OG VS Angels walked the runway.

Fans loved seeing Barbara Palvin grace the runway, especially with husband Dylan Sprouse cheering her on. Gigi Hadid was a stunner as she opened the show, and the performances from BLACKPINK's Lisa, Cher, and Tyla didn’t disappoint. There were even appearances from some OG Victoria’s Secret models, such as Adriana Lima, Alessandra AmbrosioCandice Swanepoel, and Tyra Banks, adding to the major throwback vibe.

There was no Fantasy Bra.

But while the star power and glitz were there, a few classic elements were noticeably missing, with some glaring absences: the fantasy bra, for one.

For many longtime fans, it felt like the show was missing that signature spark that once made it such a spectacle. The energy and excitement that used to define the show seemed to be absent, leaving some viewers wondering if the brand’s attempt at a comeback was simply too little, too late.

Others felt that the show lacked diversity.

Despite all the talk about inclusivity, some viewers weren’t convinced. Netizens were quick to point out that while there was a nod to diversity, it didn’t seem like the show went far enough.

On Threads, one user shared their thoughts: “It’s hilarious that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came back promising to represent ‘all women’ and then gave us a catwalk full of thin models with a token few mid-to-barely-plus-size women. On the other hand, we don’t need a historically fatphobic, exclusionary, and unethical fashion brand to represent ‘all women’ in order for us to feel worthy.”

Others echoed similar frustrations, noting that while the performers were more diverse, the model lineup felt like the same old Victoria’s Secret—a far cry from the true inclusivity many had hoped for.
