Move over, Jacquemus: There’s a new tiny tote in town. In fact, you might even need a microscope just to actually see it.
MSCHF–the brains behind the viral Big Red Boot and the Lil Nas X Satan Shoes–has done it again. The art collective is set to unveil the Microscopic Handbag, a carry-on accessory that’s said to be smaller than a grain of sea salt.
What Is the MSCHF “Louis Vuitton” Microscopic Bag?
Measuring 675 by 222 by 700 micrometers, the handbag in question looks like a tiny green speck with the naked eye. When magnified, details of the neon green bag will be discernible: Its silhouette mimics Louis Vuitton’s OnTheGo tote, complete with the luxury brand’s trademark monogram pattern.
In an interview, MSCHF’s chief creative officer Kevin Wiesner posed the minuscule piece as a commentary on the tiny bag trend and its so-called impracticality. The creator hoped to position the accessory as the “final word in bag miniaturization” by stripping away the bag’s utility, and instead, having nothing but its neon-green “Louis Vuitton” signifier.
The microscopic piece is set to be sold at Paris Fashion Week auction houses Just Phriends and Joopiter, founded by Pharrell Williams. And while Pharrell is currently Louis Vuitton’s new creative director for menswear, Kevin Wiesner clarified that he didn’t actually seek his permission for the piece in question. “We are big in the ‘ask forgiveness, not permission’ school,” he said, noting Pharrell’s proclivity for oddly scaled pieces. “Pharrell loves big hats, so we made him an incredibly small bag.”
Netizens React to MSCHF’s “Louis Vuitton” Microscopic Bag
As expected, the internet has gone wild for the teeny tiny bag. Most have resorted to humor, speculating what could actually fit inside it. (Maybe a dismal bank account and their patience–or a lack thereof.)

But several asked the question most of us have been ruminating since we first set our sights on the little green speck: What if, somehow, I accidentally eat it? That, however, remains a mystery.
