Our favorite "kuan-tie" Melai Cantiveros just made her fabulous debut on the Drag Race Philippines stage. On the reality-competition show's latest episode, the host and actress served looks and laughs as a guest judge for an improvisation challenge. Behind the judges table, the Preview January 2024 cover girl was a fierce sight in an all-black Ehrran Montoya creation.

Styled by Ica Villanueva, mumshie Mels wore a belted organdy dress with petal-like shoulders and a dramatic train. Ehrran tells Preview that the frock was a piece from his Cecropia SS/24 collection, and Melai was actually the first person to wear it off the runway.
"Melai has her own identity when it comes to her looks. [She's] polished, but at the same time, quirky and serving a bit of Hollywood glam," the designer shares.
Ehrran states that there's always a challenge to make an all-black ensemble look interesting, especially on-screen. With this in mind, Melai's outfit made a statement with its playful fabric manipulation and voluminous elements.
While there were no shimmery elements in sight, Ehrran still thinks that Melai made a memorable appearance in the garment. He says that "having her wear a look that has structured draping and no embellishments struck the right balance to introduce her [on the mainstage of Drag Race PH]."

Resident Drag Race PH judges and Preview Pride 2024 cover stars Kaladkaren and Mawma Paolo Ballesteros were more than happy to be joined by kuan-tie on this episode.
Season 1 winner Precious Paula Nicole and Melai's colleague Bianca Gonzales were also big fans of her look. "A QUEEN!!!!" the latter commented with a trail of exclamation points and fire emojis.
The likes of Karen Davila, beauty queen Samantha Bernardo, and comedian Alora Sasam cheered on Melai's judging stint, peppering her comments section with even more fire emojis.
