According to some reports, it will soon be replaced by the "Puzzle Edge" and netizens are not happy.

Ever since Jonathan Anderson took on the role of creative director at Loewe in 2013, he has managed to release one buzz-worthy piece after another. Propelling the brand’s popularity, he has widened its reach to a more diverse market, making Loewe one of the most sought-after designer brands of the 21st century. One such piece that stood out during his reign was the creation of the iconic Puzzle bag.

The Puzzle was the first bag Jonathan designed as the newly appointed creative director of the Spanish fashion house in 2014. And despite being one of the newer bags the brand has introduced, it has already cemented its place as an icon.

However, rumors are starting to spread that the Puzzle might just be phased out after the introduction of a new iteration of the bag, known as the "Puzzle Edge."

Naturally, this begs the question: Is the Loewe Puzzle bag being discontinued? Before we answer this, let’s take a closer look at the differences between the Loewe Puzzle and the so-called Puzzle “Edge.”

What Is the Difference Between the Loewe Puzzle and Loewe Puzzle “Edge”

If you take a look at the brand’s website, both the classic Puzzle and the so-called “Edge” are available, but you won’t find any bag called “Puzzle Edge.” Simply put, both variations of the bag are just labeled as “Puzzle.” So how can you tell the two apart?

The Puzzle bag is known for its geometric lines, achieved by putting together separate pieces of leather to form the cuboid-shaped bag–like a puzzle, hence its name. One of the biggest differences between the classic Puzzle and the Puzzle “Edge” is how these “puzzle pieces” are put together. While the OG puzzle pieces are sewed onto a bigger piece of leather, creating a gap between the different puzzle pieces, the Puzzle “Edge” is connected by sewing each separate piece on top of each other, creating overlapping edges, which is why it’s called the Puzzle “Edge.”

Because of the way it's constructed, you may also notice that the classic Puzzle has a sharper and more angular appearance, while the “Edge” has a smoother and more rounded appearance.

Is the Loewe Puzzle Bag Being Discontinued?

As of writing, Loewe has not made any formal announcement mentioning the discontinuation or phasing out of their iconic Puzzle bag. Both the OG Puzzle and the Puzzle “Edge” are available in-store and on the brand’s website. Take note that Loewe calls both variations of the bag “Puzzle,” but you will notice that there are more variations of the “Edge” than the classic Puzzle on their website, with only a few options left of the classic Puzzle design available.

Many netizens have heard about the rumors regarding the possible discontinuation of the classic Puzzle design, and a lot of them aren’t happy.

If you’ve always dreamed of adding the Puzzle bag to your collection of designer bags and you aren’t such a fan of the “Edge,” this might be a sign to buy the OG iteration of the Puzzle bag while you still can.
