We're only halfway through 2020, but with all the things that's happened so far... it's been wild. If you thought it couldn't get weirder, the KFC and Crocs collab dropped and subsequently sold out within 30 minutes on July 28.
Who knew that finger-lickin' Crocs would make such a killing? Not us! We can only guess that die-hard KFC fans copped all the stocks because this isn't just your run-of-the-mill collab. Crocs describes the shoe as "covered in a fried chicken print and a striped base" that will invariably "make your dreams of wearing a bucket of chicken finally come true."
The real highlight, however, are the fried Jibbitz. For those of you who don't speak the language of Crocs, Jibbitz are the clips that you pop into the holes of Crocs—shoe charms, if you will. Each KFC and Crocs collab pair comes with two Jibbitz that not only resemble KFC's fried chicken but also smells like it, too.
What's even more astounding is the fact that the shoe is being listed with hundreds of dollars of markup on sites like eBay and StockX. To give you an idea of how crazy resale prices are, the shoe retailed at $59.99 (approximately P3000) on the Crocs site but it's being resold for P10,000 to P30,000.
The hype is real, too. One user tweets, "Im gonna stay salty about this. You lost my trust when you took away potato wedges. I was going to forgive you because i love crocs and the design was the best but man.... my disappointment is immeasurable and my WEEK is ruined."
We can only hope that those who got their hands on a pair wear it solely as a work-from-home shoe.
