JC Buendia's collection was a neutral dream come to life. His black and white pieces were punctuated with pops of canary yellow and enriched with pearl accessories and embellishments that can easily be taken from day to night. According to JC, this collection underlines power dressing for modern women who are fueled by strength. He named the collection after Claire, a "strong yet feminine" character from the Netflix series Outlander. He sees modern-day Claires in his pieces—women who are "liberal in her convictions but has old-fashioned values."
He drew inspiration from the series' costume design, pulling elements from 18th Century Scotland like pantsuits, blouses, and dresses in silk gazar, tulle, and organdy. While the aesthetic came from the old world, JC made sure that the accessories he made for the collection were modern and wearable for today's Claires.
JC lists the opening dress as one of his favorites for its A-line cut and pocket feature. "They're easy to wear, pretty, and practical," he says.
