ICYMI, Ivana Alawi is Belo’s newest muse. The YouTube star turned actress is the face of the clinic’s Mermaid Facial—their most hydrating treatment to date! On their official website, the brand shared that Ivana was the first person the team had in mind when they thought about the campaign for their new facial. Her beauty reminded them of the sirens and mermaids mentioned in Greek mythology—alluring and unforgettable.
Now it was up to her styling team to create the perfect look to embody a modern-day siren. Fortunately, her stylist, Adrianne Concepcion, pulled all the right stops and tapped local designer Jot Losa for a custom piece. Ivana wore this beautiful mermaid-cut gown heavily embellished with gold and silver sequins which definitely made her look like a fairytale princess in real life.
In an exclusive interview with Preview, Jot revealed how she worked closely with Adrianne to create the dress “Her concept is a sea siren but not too literal. She wanted sparkly scales! Like a siren morphing into human form,” the designer explains. “The gown is inspired by Nereids or sea nymphs and goddesses.”
The details of the beading were truly intricate and stunning, as seen in the final campaign photos The hand stitched sequins crept up from the skirt and moved upward towards the torso where they were already strategically placed to show more skin. The invisible tulle tulle used for the bodice definitely tied everything together seamlessly.
Pressed for time to make it to the shoot date, Jot revealed that there wasn’t a chance to have a prior fitting with Ivana. But since this wasn't the first time she made a dress for the star, she already noted and perfected what would work best. And believe it or not, the dress was finished in less than three days!
Who would’ve guessed it was completed in such a short amount of time with that amount of craftsmanship and attention to detail? Such beautiful work, Jot!
