South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has joined forces with avant-garde fashion house Mugler, aiming to deliver a new collection that merges bold and fashion-forward aesthetics—style codes that are characteristic of the two cult-favorite brands.
A First Look at the Gentle Monster x Mugler Capsule Collection
The capsule collection revisits Mugler's archival designs and brings forth two futuristic eyewear silhouettes: the Spiral 01 and Spiral 02, a nod to the French fashion house's signature spiral accents.
A contemporary interpretation of Mugler’s Fourmis eyewear from the 1997 haute couture collection, Les Insectes, the Spiral 01 maintains the original design's supersized, goggle-shaped silhouette. Now introduced in three different colorways—orange, pink, and black—each piece features chrome mirrored lenses and sharply curved temples.
Still taking cues from Mugler's archival designs and Gentle Monster's futuristic ethos, the Spiral 02 offers a more sleek and avant-garde take on the Y2k favorite, wraparound frames. Available in silver, black, and blue frames, these sunglasses feature black-colored lenses and embossed line details on the temples.
The Mugler x Gentle Monster launches globally on July 18, 2024, at Mugler and Gentle Monster's physical and online stores worldwide and in select multi-brand boutiques. Filipino clientele can head over to the Gentle Monster flagship store located along 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
