Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are making tears flood this Christmas season with their Metro Manila Film Festival entry Rewind. In the film, the show biz royalties play Mary and John, a couple in turmoil who are given a second chance to make things right. Since its premiere, preliminary reviews praising their performances have been scattered all over social media.
In one of the movie's establishing scenes, the pair exchanges vows in a romantic church wedding. As expected from a style icon, Marian was a breathtaking sight as she walked down the aisle. Preview got in touch with Melville Sy, the actress' go-to stylist, and got exclusive details about the bridal frock she wore.

Melville says that Mary, above all things, is "a very devoted wife." The Kapuso Primetime Queen's personal style bears similarities with her character, as they both have an evident preference for mid-length dresses.
For the wedding scene in particular, she was to don something "elegant and not over the top." With the brief in mind, the stylist got in touch with bridal designer Steph Tan.

"She is one of our go-to designers because she understands the female body and always makes pieces that are feminine and elegant," Melville says of Steph. The assignment was understood, as the square-neck sleeveless gown, peppered with beads from head-to-toe, "really flattered Marian's body type."

Unassuming at first glance, the ensemble was meant to symbolize Mary's identity and purpose in the film. "Marian's character is all about family," Melville tells Preview. "Her wedding gown is not fussy, which [represents how] she’s just a simple woman who just dreams [of having] a perfect family."
