As a renowned sneakerhead, Enrique Gil boasts a range of kicks—from brand favorites to rare finds and collectibles. But it seems that the actor has let go of two prized possessions from his collection!
On February 3, 2024, shoe collector-content creator Dane Grospe uploaded a video on his Facebook account, detailing his shoe-related transaction with Enrique. In the video, he explains the back story behind two of his limited edition sneakers.

Talking about his Iron Man-inspired Nike Air Mag shoes, Enrique Gil recalled, "'Nung nakita ko ito sa isang store, medyo naka-ipon ako ng marami sa trabaho," he said. "I got into shoes kasi naging dancer ako, performer, so, sabi ko, 'I need to have these crazy shoes na nagla-light up pag nasa stage ako.'"
He later admitted that he didn't get to use it onstage, and had only worn it once for a photoshoot.
"Nakita ko siya naka display siya centerpiece sa isang store na super-super fan [ang owner] ng basketball, so he had crazy, crazy shoes, and he didn't really wanna sell it talaga," he said. "Pero I begged him na i-sell ito so, binenta niya sa akin."

The 31-year-old actor also revealed that American former basketball point guard Nate Robinson and Black Eyed Peas founding member Apl.de.ap wanted to get this exact pair.
As to why they did not get to acquire the coveted pair, Enrique related: "Una si Apl.de.ap, 'di niya size," he said. "Si Nate Robinson, hindi ko alam kung size 11 ba siya, but gusto niya talagang kunin 'to. Problema, hindi siya pumayag na lumipad dito sa Pilipinas."
He then highlighted the rarity of the shoes, mentioning how only three of its kind existed globally.

When it comes to the second pair he's selling, a Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red October, Enrique shared that it is more of an addition to his shoe collection than something he actually uses, since it doesn't even come in his size.
He emphasized, "I just wanted to have kasi ['nung] nag-start 'yung Yeezy, marami na akong Adidas Yeezys noon, so sabi ko, 'I just need one Nike na Yeezy.'
"Paul, my shoe guy, sabi niya, 'Bro, meron ako dito kaso super hard to find. [Only] 11.5,'" he said. "Hindi ko talaga size, but kumagat pa rin ako kasi bihira ka lang makakita ng ganyan."

Enrique's initial asking price for the first pair is PHP1.2 million, while the second pair is accounted for the price of PHP800,000, for a total of PHP2 million.
As a curator of shoes, Dane tried to renegotiate the asking price, causing Enrique to playfully remark while approving the request. After negotiating, Dane decided to toss a coin to decide whether he’ll buy the actor’s two pairs of shoes for a total of PHP1.5 million or PHP1.45 million.
Winning the coin flip, Enrique eventually settled with a total of PHP1.5 million in cash.
According to him, he felt relieved to have sold his prized possessions to a friend instead of selling both pairs to a stranger.
