Wardrobe malfunctions happen all the time, even during Hollywood's biggest night. Such was the case with Emma Stone, who was in a tricky situation when she accepeted her Best Actress trophy at the 2024 Academy Awards

Before things went askew, Emma walked down the red carpet in a stunning architectural dress by Louis Vuitton. The strapless mint-hued dress had a jutted-out peplum by her waist and delicate white lace detailing all throughout. The Poor Things lead was certainly dressed like a winner!

Emma Stone Wins Best Actress at the 2024 Academy Awards

Later on in the evening, Emma was announced as the winner of the highly-coveted Best Actress award, succeeding last year's Michelle Yeoh. The Poor Things star began her speech with a disclaimer: "My dress is broken." She then briefly turned around, showing the yanked-apart zipper at the back of her outfit. OMG!

Not one to take the mishap too seriously, she joked that the zipper must have broken during Ryan Gosling's performance of "I'm Just Ken." The Barbie actor and fellow nominee approached Emma during his energetic pink-tastic number. Notably, the two were co-stars in 2016's La La Land, which was the last movie Emma won the Best Actress Oscar for!

Quickly composing herself, Emma went on to sing praises for the women she was nominated with. For her portrayal of Bella Baxter in Poor Things, she bested the likes of Sandra Huller, Annette Benning, Carey Mulligan, and Lily Gladstone. "It's not about me. It's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It's all of us together," she stated.

"Oh boy. My dress is broken. I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken.' I'm pretty sure."

"Oh boy, this is really overwhelming. Sorry. My voice is also a little gone. Whatever!"

"To the women on the stage, you are all incredible. To the women in this category, Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily, I share this with you. I'm in awe of you, and it has been such an honor to do all of this together. I hope we get to keep doing more together. I don't know what I'm saying. Oh my god!"

"The other night, I was panicking, [which,] as you can kind of see, happens a lot. That maybe something like this could happen, and Yorgos said to me, 'Please take yourself out of it.' And he was right, because it's not about me. It's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It's all of us together."

"I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film."

"I know I have to wrap up, but I really just want to thank my family. My mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave [McCary], I love you so much. And, most importantly, my daughter, who's gonna be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl."
