For this year’s ABS-CBN Ball, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano put their own artistic spin on the theme “Spring Floral.” The Gen Z love team opted for a more conceptual approach, making a statement in ensembles by Filipino designers.
In a brief conversation with Preview, their stylists and designers walk us through the inspirations behind their standout looks. Fun fact: Both Donny and Belle were actively involved in conceptualizing their outfits for the evening. Read on for the creative process behind their red carpet looks.

Stylist John Lozano and designer Nina Amoncio explain the concept behind Donny's look
This year, Donny wanted to push boundaries—veering away from his usual red carpet style. To bring his vision to life, he deliberately chose to collaborate with emerging Filipino talent, his stylist John Lozano tells Preview.
For the occasion, Donny stepped out in a boxy black suit by designer Nina Amoncio, its most striking feature being the electric blue piping tracing the blazer’s lapels—a nod to surrealist artist Joan Miró. “Given Donny’s long-standing appreciation for art, this decision was both a personal and bold choice, making a statement that had never been seen in his previous looks,” Nina shares.
A particularly intriguing detail is the blue piping adorning the lapel, which was intentionally shaped after Donny’s side profile. “P.S.: For those curious about the side profile featured, it was Donny's face," Nina reveals.
At the back, the structured suit features a cut-out detail accentuated by an extended panel featuring the same cobalt blue piping. “Adding a unique flair to the back has become a signature element of our design approach,” she explains.
To subtly complement the playful ensemble, Donny accessorized with understated jewelry from Tiffany & Co.’s ‘Tiffany T’ collection. “The collection’s shape resembles a smile, which we thought was a playful nod to his suit, given that it features a face,” John tells Preview. “It’s a subtle but cute touch.”
More than just a muse, Donny was hands-on throughout the design process. “Despite his demanding schedule, Donny was deeply involved in crafting his look for the ABS-CBN Ball,” Nina shares. “Donny’s clear direction made the process smooth and enjoyable.”
Designer Francis Libiran explains the concept behind Belle Mariano's gown
Perfectly complementing Donny’s structured ensemble was Belle Mariano’s intricately embellished, mermaid-cut gown. Designed by Francis Libiran and styled by Adrianne Concepcion, the soft blue frock—reminiscent of the ocean’s hues—features a sculptural, form-fitting silhouette. “The soft light blue hue was chosen to enhance her radiant beauty while offering a fresh take on classic evening wear,” Francis tells Preview.
Every inch of the gown is lavishly adorned with shimmering floral embellishments, meticulously handcrafted by Vellora Jewelry PH. “Each flower adds dimension and artistry, transforming the gown into a three-dimensional masterpiece,” he explains. The delicate ornamentation required painstaking craftsmanship, with every floral element placed individually for perfect symmetry and fluid movement. “[Each embellishment was] adjusted to ensure perfect symmetry and movement, making each detail truly one of a kind," Francis adds.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Francis describes working with Belle as “truly inspiring.” From the start, she had a clear vision for her look. “[She wanted something] elegant yet modern, striking yet effortless," he shares. Needless to say, Francis and his team achieved just that.
