The most recent stop on Dolly de Leon's global conquest was the 76th British Film Academy Awards, or simply known as the BAFTAs. The actress' exemplary performance in Triangle of Sadness landed her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, making history yet again as the first Filipino to ever obtain such an honor. Her red carpet look for the ceremony, crafted and styled by her fellow Pinoy artists, was worthy of its own ovation.

Dressed by LJ Perez, Dolly was swathed in a show-stopping sculptural piece by Rajo Laurel. Appropriately named the "Alon" gown, the couture creation was made of abaca nylon and silk, and starred masterful pleating that resembled, you guessed it, waves crashing into each other.
"You made waves internationally and drowned them with your presence," LJ waxed in an Instagram post. On his Facebook profile, Rajo shared the story of how he and Dolly were connected by actress Iza Calzado.
"She spoke about her love of the ocean and how she [finds] peace near the water," the designer recalled, "She introduced me to her young, energetic stylist LJ who really made me think and pushed my creative buttons. From there I thought about Dolly's love of the ocean and I decided to fully embrace this by celebrating our Filipino culture in a modern light."
Teamed with it were similar-in-tone strappy sandals from Steve Madden, and a blue ribbon sitting right by the star's collar. ICDYK, Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett requested for her fellow celebrities to don the ribbon in solidarity for refugee crises worldwide.
On the red carpet, Jamie Lee Curtis was quoted stating, "My friend Cate Blanchett is asking people to remind us all in the midst of all the season of shiny things that of course there are terrible refugee crises going on all over the world everywhere all at once and we need to do our part."
Needless to say, we have nothing but praise for this look. Congratulations to you, Dolly, and to all of your fellow artists!
