In a post-pandemic world, fashion seems to be leaning more toward practicality. People have adapted their dressing habits to fit their new lifestyles. Style enthusiasts now build wardrobes around pieces that suit their daily routines, whether it involves a 9-to-5 job or a more spontaneous schedule.
Luxury labels have taken notice of this switch in mindset. Recent runways have showcased ensembles that aimed to balance practicality with their respective house's design codes. In the case of Dior, their Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection caters to individuals who are in a perpetual state of movement. Adhering to a neutral-hued motif, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri conjured up a selection of wearable pieces that appealed to stylistas on the go.

A newcomer on the catwalk was the D-Journey, a fluid, horizontally-shaped bag that was either modeled as a crossbody or clutched in one's hands. Presented in a variety of sizes and styles, the piece exhibited the maison's awareness of their patrons' developing sensibilities.

Ahead, we delve into the D-Journey's conception and what makes it a viable addition to one's roster of designer carriers.
Meet the Dior D-Journey
Only a month apart from the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Dior's Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear show was partly a tribute to athleticism. Models strutted in skin-tight bodysuits and laced-up sandals that one can easily liken to sporting gear. The latter segments of the show saw muses in flowing nudish frocks that seemingly referenced imagery of ancient Greece, from which the Olympics originated.
The D-Journey stood out not only as an arm candy but as a key contributor to each ensemble. Its slouchy silhouette, leather straps, and gold hardware reminded onlookers of satchels carried by sportsmen. It made appearances in solid-toned black, ivory, and brown, as well as in Dior's iconic Oblique print.

Painstakingly assembled by artisans at Dior's studio and ateliers, each D-Journey is stitched together with the utmost precision. Leather variations come in either smooth or intentionally crinkled calfskin, which is then patterned into a nonchalant horizontal shape.

A tag that reads "Christian Dior Paris" is attached to the end of the zipper by hand. As a final touch and as a testament to the label's dedication to details, the two ends of the strap are enclosed with C- and D-shaped gold buckles.

The D-Journey, in whatever size it comes in, is typically worn across one's torso, though the straps can be adjusted to turn it into a hobo-style handbag. The piece hit boutiques and online retailers in January 2025. Soon enough, style stars such as house ambassador Jisoo and pop phenomenon Taylor Swift were spotted with the tote, subsequently christening it as an "it" bag.
