If you're looking to free up precious space in your closet, without throwing or donating your beloved stuff away, we found a place where you can store them and maybe even get something in return. Heard of My Closet Manager? It's a circular fashion service launched recently in the Philippines where you can rent out your old clothes or give them a new home at a pretty good price.
What is My Closet Manager?
My Closet Manager is a smart closet management concept that offers basic storage rental, clothes rental, and a venue where you can sell your clothes and earn from it. Behind this revolutionary concept is former luxury retail executive Genevieve Jimenez-Yalung.
"We built My Closet Manager not just to be in the business of helping people manage their closets. Our bigger mission is to promote responsible fashion consumption and help people embrace a more conscious mindset," says Genevieve. "Circular fashion isn't just a trend-it's the future of sustainable living."
Textile waste causes water pollution and has a lasting impact on the environment. The fashion industry produces 92 million tons of textile waste per year. Buying and selling pre-loved clothes, upcycling, repurposing, and reworking garments, among other efforts are ways to help minimize the damage big fashion biz does to the environment.
Many retailers have been opting for more sustainable materials and more consumers have been more intentional in making their purchases. My Closet Manager takes part in this circular fashion movement by helping clothes owners adopt sustainable practices.
"We don't just manage closets-we manage fashion investments and help our clients appreciate and maximize what they already own," Genevieve adds.
What can people expect from My Closet Manager?
Storage rental
Their storage rental service is geared to provide you extra closet space for your extra clothes and accessories as well as other seasonal items like gowns, winter coats, bags, and luggage. They have their showroom in One Proscenium at Rockwell but they also have another storage location for the extra closets at Pet Plans Tower in Makati. You can choose where you like your clothes stationed.
Their private closet spaces vary. The basic standard closet size starts at 39x24x92 inches and can be rented at P2,500 up to P9,100. You can pay online (they accept PayPal, credit card payments, cash, or other money or bank transfers). You also can have your old clothes picked up with a small starting fee of P800 (this will increase depending on your place and number of items) or you can personally deliver them to either of the above mentioned locations. Rest assured your items will be secured in a climate-controlled facility.
We know that sometimes you wish you had a digital catalog for your wardrobe, one that showcases all the pieces you have at a glance. Well, My Closet Manager kind of makes that wish come true. Once you store your items with My Closet Manager, you'll have access to a digital catalog (through their App) where you can view all your items stored in the facility. That way you know what's inside and what you can pull out when during those push-comes-to-shove occasions.
Clothes rental services
Do you have designer clothes and gowns you want to rent out? Or you want to rent designer clothes yourself? You can do both at My Closet Manager.
Local and international designer gowns are welcome here and they will screen the items first before pushing through with the rental. You can earn up to 40% depending on the dress designer and the quoted rental price. On the other hand, you can also rent designer gowns or other pieces from My Closet Manager's hundreds of new collections. Their lineup is refreshed-at least this is what they claim-constantly. They've got gowns, cocktail dresses, coordinates, tops, bottoms, skirts, coats-you name it. They have a standard four-day rental period.
Most of the rentable pieces are cocktail dresses, long dresses, and gowns. They have 500 pieces of these on their racks now as well as the 100 local and international designers behind them! They carry clothes by Rajo Laurel, Francis Libiran, and Vania Romoff, among other local designers, as well as Monique Lhullier, Guissepe Di Morabito, Alice McCall, Chanel, et cetera.
Selling of luxe items
But if you want to give your luxe items a new home completely, you can also sell them through My Closet Manager. They accept a wide range of high-end brands. Think Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, and Goyard for bags; and Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Hublot, IWC, Patek Philippe, and Richard Mille for watches.
You can show the My Closet Manager people your stuff personally or through email and they will assess the items. After that, they will be doing market research (both local and international) on the going rates and give you a quotation.
