Actress and TV host Carmina Villarroel took to Instagram to share details of an alleged online scam that victimized her sister. The Instagram account behind the reported scam went by the handle “@deluxebags.preloved” which markets itself as selling authentic luxury items from Europe. Her sister had tried to purchase a mini Balenciaga City bag.
“As much as I don’t want to expose this account, they left me no choice but to,” she wrote in the post’s caption.
Carmina shared screenshots of her conversation with the account. She had apparently messaged them with a narration of her sister’s situation:
“My sister deposited P33k for the Mini City gray Balenciaga bag at 1:51 p.m. today, Aug. 18, 2023 thru Union Bank (online) but she didn’t receive the bag and you blocked her on IG and you’re not replying on WhatsApp. Return/refund her money tonight.”
However, despite her efforts, Carmina shared that the account put her on vanish mode, which means that messages sent in that chat will disappear. The same thing happened to her sister. Carmina was also blocked on Instagram.
Her post garnered a plethora of reactions from netizens who shared similar experiences with the account. Fellow celebrity Maui Taylor commented: “This account used to be prelovedby kc. Got scammed by this shop too.”
Another netizen by the name @gorgeousdolfa said: “Hi ms carmina, big time scammer po yan dito sa IG. Marami po yang IG account. Be aware po lalo na kapag mataas ang mga followers and mura po ang prices nila.”
“I almost got scammed by the same accnt,” wrote @vieve1018. “I asked for their BDO accnt as I was about to make the payment for a Goyard bag too. Good thing I searched for their DTI but it’s not showing in the DTI system.”
Carmina ended her caption saying, “We all work hard for our money and this is what we get? Please be careful and watch out for scammers.” In the comment section, she also thanked everyone who provided their insights on the luxury reseller.
