It looks like Billie Eilish's Mountain Dew-hued streetwear outfits have taken a backseat for now— the fashion-forward star is all grown up, and has certainly mastered a brand of glamour that's well-beyond her years. On the evening of September 13, the 19-year-old singer marked her Met Gala debut in a custom peach gown by Oscar de la Renta, and she looked absolutely breathtaking.
Her ball gown featured delicately draped tulle that wrapped around her shoulders, a corset bodice, and a nearly endless train.
Comparisons were drawn between her and Marilyn Monroe, courtesy of the Old Hollywood-esque platinum bob and the sultry eye makeup.
According to the songstress, Holiday Barbie was a huge inspiration behind her look! "It was my favorite thing in the world. I would ask for them for Christmas every single year. The dresses, genuinely that was my inspiration," she said.
In an Instagram post, she also thanked the Oscar de la Renta team for her gorgeous gown. "Thank you Oscar dela Renta for designing this BEAUTIFUL dress and bringing my ideas and vision to life," she wrote.
It was a huge night for Billie. In addition to this being her first Met Gala appearance, she is also the youngest person to have been appointed as an event co-chair, alongside actor Timothée Chalamet, poet Amanda Gorman, and tennis player Naomi Osaka.
