If you’re like us and thrifting is a must-do on any trip, then you’re definitely in for a treat. Osaka’s shopping scene is a haven for fashion enthusiasts, offering everything from rare designer pieces to affordable secondhand finds.
But in case you’ve got limited time on your hands, there’s one district in Osaka where you can practically make a run for all your vintage shopping needs. Enter: Amerikamura. Known as the city’s cultural and fashion hub, this district is lined with an eclectic mix of shops catering to every aesthetic.
During Preview's recent trip to Osaka, we were on a mission to take home at least one vintage designer piece (Japan is a vintage shopping paradise, after all). And so, in between our packed four-day itinerary, we spent an entire morning at Amerikamura’s treasure trove of all things vintage. Armed with Metrobank’s new Travel Signature Visa credit card, we surveyed countless shops in the area and sifted through endless racks of secondhand clothing. (Spoiler: We scored vintage Burberry and Ganni pieces ourselves!)
So, if you only have a couple of hours to shop, don’t worry—we’ve curated a shortlist of four must-visit thrift stores in Amerikamura. Trust us, these shops will give you a fast yet fruitful shopping spree, and you’ll definitely come home with more than a few unforgettable finds.
The Best Vintage Shops to Visit in Amerikamura, Osaka’s Vintage Shopping District
1. JAM
Address: 2-chome-9−28 Nishishinsaibashi, Osaka, Chuo Ward.

If your personal style is all about functional utility wear with hints of sportiness, you’ll be in paradise at JAM. The shop houses a vast array of leather pieces, corduroys, and denims, from classic American brands like Levi’s, Carhartt, and Ralph Lauren. You’ll find everything from jackets, baggy pants, chunky wool sweaters, plaid button-downs, and sporty tees– wardrobe staples for nailing that '80s to '90s street style look.

2. El Rodeo
Address: Chuo Ward, Nishishinsaibashi, 2 Chome−10−22

Unique, maximalist, and eclectic. If these words resonate with your personal style, you’ll love the selection over at El Rodeo. A shop first built in 1978, the brand houses an array of handmade pieces, reworked from deadstock fabric. Think maxi ruffled skirts and quilted vests constructed through a mix of printed and bright-colored fabrics.

3. Kindal
Address: 2 Chome-18-7 2 4F Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo Ward, Osaka

Gunning for a specific brand? Kindal will be your one-stop shop. Spanning three curated floors, the shop features everything from edgy Raf Simons, Rick Owens, and Maison Margiela pieces to timeless classics from Prada, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. Each level is thoughtfully organized by the designer, making it easy to zero in on your favorites. The top floor caters to bold and experimental tastes, while the lower levels focus on subtler, more wearable finds.

Bonus: you’ll likely spot newer season finds at Kindal. (We saw some pieces from Pharrell’s recent collections with Louis Vuitton). They do, however, come with a heftier price tag than most pieces in the shop.
4. Kinji
Address: Shinsaibashi Big Step, 1 Chome-6-14 Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo Ward, Osaka

You’ll literally be swimming in clothes when you’re at Kinji. If you’re heading over to their Amerikamura location, be prepared to sift through countless racks and piles of clothes. After all, they’ve got clothing options that fit practically every occasion imaginable. From thick outerwear for the winter and tailored blazers, down to on-trend tartan skirts and branded tees, there’s something for everyone over at Kinji. The best part? Their vast collection includes pieces from both international luxury brands and beloved Japanese labels. (Pro tip: This is where I scored a vintage Burberry skirt– and in pristine condition too!)
