Held at the National Museum of Natural History, celebrity and event specialist Tim Yap celebrated Halloween a day early with his annual #TYHalloweenBall! But to make the occasion more uniquely Pinoy, he rebranded the event to "Shake, Rattle, and Ball: The Alamat Exhibition Gala” that would take place yearly from this day forward.
Of course, celebrities and influencers alike graced the eerily lighted steps of the museum all decked out in their favorite Filipino mythical creature, folklore, or fictional character. Here’s who bested the rest with their jaw-dropping Halloween ensembles!
The Best Halloween Costumes From Tim Yap’s “Shake, Rattle, and Ball: The Alamat Exhibition Gala”
1. Andrea Brillantes as Amalia the half-Encanto and half-Manananggal
The actress just claimed her seat as the local queen of Halloween by dressing up as a hauntingly beautiful hybrid character which she actually created herself! It’s the total opposite of her Mean Girls ‘fit she wore with her BFFs for her personal Halloween photoshoot!
2. Belle Mariano as Darna and Donny Pangilinan as Captain Barbell
Talk about a literal power couple! These two made sure to get people talking with their local superhero couple costume. It’s definitely a crossover we never knew we needed!
3. Tim Yap as Lilia Cuntapay
Give it to Tim Yap to properly pay tribute to the queen of Philippine horror movies! The host of the event dressed up as the late Lilia Cuntapay and donned her signature long hair and ghastly black dress.
4. Janeena Chan as Ibong Adarna
The ever-so-bubbly host arrived early in her stunning Ibong Adarna ‘fit created by designer Ushi Sato. The multicolored feathered frock perfectly matched Janeena’s sparkly beauty look.
5. Reins Mika as an Elf
Model-turned-actress (also Preview cover girl!) Mika Reins put a Gen Z spin on her elf costume and went for a slinky green chainmail dress to complement her red wig and exaggerated pointy ears.
6. Rhian Ramos as Alexandra Trese
What is a night of mythical creatures without the aswang-fighting anti-hero Alexandra Trese? Rhian definitely nailed the look with her on-point wig but opted to portray the character in a sexy way by wearing a leg-baring bodysuit under her tailored black trench.
7. LA Aguinaldo as a Mulawin
The iconic Filipino fantaserye never gets old and is still a statement costume choice for any Halloween event, as proven by influencer and model LA Aguinaldo.
8. EJ Nacion as a Sirena
We love EJ’s hubadera take on the sirena concept and proves that you don’t have to take the theme too literally to look amazing on Halloween!
9. Rei Germar as Oryol the Bicolano Demi-Goddess
Mentioned in the epic Ibalong, Oryol is a famous Demi-goddess from Bicolano myths and is a beautiful deity and powerful seductress. Quite a unique and fitting choice for Rei!
10. Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo as a Siren Goddess
The veteran cosplayer definitely knows how to make heads turn. For this Halloween gala she chose to be an eerily beautiful siren goddess with a dress made by designer Mara Chua and a custom ear-piece she made herself!
