Belle Mariano marked her leading lady era with her head-turning entrance at the ABS-CBN Ball 2023. Clad in an embellished ball gown, she looked every bit like a princess as she dazzled in the star-studded fête with her love team partner Donny Pangilinan.
Behind that iconic red carpet moment though is three months worth of handbeading by Michael Leyva's team, and a glam squad that worked hard to make sure every detail was in place. "Each actress deserves a ball gown moment," fashion stylist Adrianne Concepcion declared in the behind the scenes video. This was the sentiment that guided Belle's team as they brainstormed their approach to the much-awaited return of the ABS-CBN Ball.
"The first time she wore a ball gown, she was in a different place in her career, in her life," Adrianne said, explaining why this year's sartorial moment was extra special, "And now, we had a dress commissioned to encapsulate the grandeur and shine [Belle's career is currently experiencing]."
For this, they tapped Michael Leyva who worked on two dresses in a span of three months. Both pieces designed to reflect Belle's personality, the hand-beaded gowns were fresh, timeless, and elegant. It was every bit the headturner you'd expect a young star to don.
Her go-to makeup artist Jake Galvez also pulled all stops to elevate her look for the occasion. "This is the first time I'm doing a rose gold type of eyeshadow on Belle, and also the first time I'm doing doll-eye lashes," he told Preview. Hairstylist RJ Dela Cruz then gave the Gen Z actress glamorous loose waves and made sure that not a strand was out of place.
