To fulfill her hosting duties on a noontime show, the it girl recently wore a fuschia-toned polo that had flower-shaped appliques dotted all throughout. The top, what with its eye-catching hue and quirky design, definitely spruced up her white top and jeans combo.
Some quick sleuthing led us to young Filipino designer Martin Uy, the brain behind the piece Atasha was wearing. He tells Preview that the top, called the Meltch Summer Cropped Oversized Polo, is part of his gender-neutral summer collection. He shares that he wanted to create something "comfortable yet stylish" for the sunny season.
He initially began with a baseline button-down, but decided to elevate things with the addition of the flowers. "That's when the idea to incorporate denim appliques came to mind. Denim, with its versatility and timeless appeal, seemed like the perfect addition to enhance the polo's aesthetic," he states. And so, he made use of leftover denim trimmings and stitched them onto the Meltch Polo, creating a totally fresh summer staple.
"I was able to minimize waste and give new life to materials that might have otherwise been discarded," the designer says. "This approach aligns with a more eco-friendly and conscious design philosophy, which is increasingly important in the fashion industry today."
