The kneejerk interpretation to women wearing suits is that it's always borrowed from the boys. Anthony Ramirez started his set with models carrying extreme style dualities: a structured, black-tie suit engulfing a lacy bustier, and an off-shouldered suit jacket offshoot punctuated by a faint trim of uneven lace. His theme then gets softer at each turn: bejeweled appliqués and jewel ruffling slowly make friends with the audience, until the collection reaches its climax with ballgowns peaking through stiff chiffon.

There's an exciting discomfort all throughout Anthony's collection, a palpable tug between structure and femininity. But the tailend of the runway was, at the same time, Anthony's peak. The impeccably constructed ballgowns—framed by the same structured bustier that recurred throughout—spoke for themselves, and in a way, spoke for the designer, too: ballgowns are Anthony's strongest suit. And the collection's flawless gradual progression from tailored hybrids to streamlined evening gowns prove that suiting and structure don't just belong to a man's world—they're every inch all-woman, too.
