"We wanted Alden to look mischievous but still reliable and CEO-worthy," Studio 24c tells Preview.

Back in 2020 (yes, height-of-the-pandemic 2020), Kim Seon Ho and Bae Suzy gave us loads of business casual style inspo with every episode of Start-Up. Two years later, and we have our very own adaptation of the series, with Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo taking the lead. While translating the K-drama into a distinctly Pinoy context entailed changing some aspectslike the food they eat and the places they reside inwhat's stayed consistent was the wardrobe of some of the characters.

When it came to Alden's leading role as Tristan Hernandez, our spin on Han Ji-pyeong, his outfits had to strongly indicate his youthful expertise as an entrepreneur. This meant blazers, tailored trousers, and white sneakers—all the makings of a "Good Boy" OOTD. Alden's go-to styling team, Studio 24c, met this task with enthusiasm, since it was a chance to dress the Kapuso star in ensembles he usually doesn't gravitate towards.

Did your team try to emanate the styling of Kim Seon Ho (as Han Ji-pyeong) in the original K-drama? If so, in what ways?

"As soon as this project came to us, we knew we had to draw inspiration from Han Ji-pyeong’s style. A full suit, [a] button-up shirt (with four buttons open), [a] white t-shirt underneath, and sneakers is the style [formula of] 'good boy'. That's one [of] the most consistent looks of Tristan's that you can see throughout the show."

What was your inspiration or mood board like when putting together Tristan’s wardrobe?

"In our mood board, the color palette of Tristan’s wardrobe is mostly neutral colors, leaning towards beige, navy, army green, grey, black, and white [colors]. We also incorporated plaid prints and double breasted suits to elevate his looks."

From which brands or designers did you pull from for Tristan? What was the thought process behind choosing the brands/designers for the outfits?

"[The] designers we collaborated [with] are Ziggy Savella, Vin Orias, Mark Tamayo, Suit It Up Manila, Paulo Lazaro, and Ryan Chris. The thought process on choosing the designers [were based on] aesthetics. Ryan Chris and Paulo Lazaro [were] more on the playful business casual side. Vin Orias and Mark Tamayo [were more] on colors and texture. Then Ziggy and Suit It Up Manila [were more] on the classic business style."

Is Alden’s personal style different or similar to that of Tristan’s? If so, in what ways?

"Alden’s personal style is very different from Tristan. He usually arrives on set with very 'off duty' looks, wearing comfy t-shirts [with] joggers or shorts."

What was the difference between styling Alden on a regular basis, and styling him for a show like Start-Up PH?

"The difference [with] styling him [for a show] like Start-Up PH [was that] we already [had] staple style and colors for him, but for events and photoshoots, it really depends on what he has to do, [and] we can always change things up a bit."
