What is the Adidas Samba Sneaker?

Following their traditional sneaker silhouette, the Samba is distinguished by its tan gumsole and suede panels. Beneath the shoe is a suction pattern that's meant to help the wearer stay on their feet during intense soccer matches. On each side are the iconic three stripes, along with some text spelling out its name. All of these elements contribute to the timeless appeal it's gained as one of Adidas' hallmark pieces.

The History of the Adidas Samba Sneaker

Just in time for the 1950 FIFA World Cup, founder and brand namesake Adi Dasler launched the Samba as the quintessential shoe for soccer players everywhere. It borrows its name from a fiery Latin dance that originated in Brazil, where the games took place that year. Initially, they had an extended gumsole that served a purpose on the soccer field. Several iterations of the model were churned out when demand for more casual versions grew.

Nowadays, it's regarded as Adidas' second-most popular footwear, only falling behind the Stan Smith. Proving its status as a fixture of streetwear are the likes of Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber, who've all been spotted rocking a pair on their stylish jaunts.

How Much Is the Adidas Samba Sneaker?

Undoubtedly, the most sought-out version of the Samba is the classic white silhouette with black accents (Samba Decon). The inverse is also just as popular, with both being priced at P12,000.

Though, one can now complete the rainbow with an array of Sambas in different iterations. The piece comes in vibrant color combos such as pink and blue, with high-end collaborations also birthing their own styles. Fashion designer Wales Bonner and luxury athletic apparel brand Sporty & Rich, for example, have both worked with the label to release their own line of eye candy kicks.
