After 10 nail-biting episodes, it's safe to say that tvN and Netflix's rendition of Little Women is nothing like we expected. Aside from being set in modern-day Seoul, the series poses itself as more of a mystery-thriller than a coming-of-age story. Nonetheless, it still had us cheering for the Oh sisters—played by Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, and Park Ji Hu—as they unraveled one mystery after the other.
One character that had us intrigued was Choi Do-il, an intelligent member of the Wonryong Group who carries a mysterious aura around him. Bringing him to life on-screen was Wi Ha Joon, who many recognize as the undercover police officer in Squid Game or the justice-seeking K in Bad and Crazy.
Now, let's state facts: Ha Joon is quite the looker, what with his handsome features and Adonis-like build. Even if it wasn't intentional, some fans of his pointed out that he always came across as "sexy" in his past roles. While he professes that Do-il is not "flat out sexy," he assures audiences that there are still some tidbits about him that can surely make them swoon.
During the show's press conference, he shared, "The more I read into the script, the more I found him mysterious. 'What was his upbringing like? How did he end up with such convictions and values? Why does he act that way? How does he feel about In-joo?' I had endless questions about him. I found that appealing and wanted to flesh that out about him."
Despite Do-il's eyebrow-raising aura and history, he says that he portrayed the character primarily as a genuine person. "I did not intend to confuse the viewer on whether he is a good guy or a bad guy. Do-il is sincere in everything he does. He has strong conviction and value system about money, and seems very rational."
Overall, Ha Joon entices all of his fans to look forward to a "mysterious kind of sexy" from his Little Women character. "I tried my best to portray all such sides of him, which may lead the audience to be perplexed, wondering whether he is good or bad," he said.
