Love teams may be a regular occurrence in Philippine showbiz, but actors like Andrea Brillantes is one star who hopes to break away from them.
During a press conference for the series Senior High on January 9, the 20-year-old actress revealed that she preferred to work solo than having a consistent on-screen partner.

While she maintains that she supports love teams in general, the young star had come to a realization that it was “not for her.”
“I think it’s not for me to be paired up with someone. Personally, mas nakakakita ako ng personal growth kapag mag-isa ako. Pero support ako sa mga love teams. I have nothing against them.”
To Andrea, working independently gave ample opportunity for her to explore her artistry as an actress. “Mas nakilala ko kasi yung sarili ko bilang isang actress, at mas madami lang ako pwedeng paglaruan at mas madami akong pwedeng makatrabaho na bago,” she said.

Since her early days in Annaliza, the actress has been paired with different actors, including Grae Fernandez, Seth Federlin, and JK Labajo, who she co-stars in Senior High.
“Ang dami ko nang pinagdaanan na shows ko na lagi ako may partner. Tapos nung nagkaroon ako ng opportunity na parang pwede na ako mag solo artist, gusto ko na siyang i-explore, mas enjoy ko siya ngayon.”
But while Andrea preferred not to go down the traditional route of love teams, the young actress is open to roles that’ll tap into her range as an actress. During the same press con, Andrea’s co-star and onscreen best friend Xyriel Manabat shared that she was open to starring in a GL (girls’ love) series.
Andrea agreed, saying that she would be receptive to that opportunity, especially if Xyriel signed on. “If ever lang naman, I would be comfortable doing [a kissing scene] with my best friend. And si Xyriel, magaling siyang actress, eh. Marami kaming makukuha sa isa’t isa.”
