1. Radhika Merchant comes from an affluent family. 

Even before marrying into the richest family in Asia, Radhika already had an illustrious family background. The Ambani bride is the daughter of Viren and Shaila Merchant, the founders of the pharmaceutical manufacturer Encore Healthcare

Today, the family business is alive and thriving with its members at the helm. Radhika reportedly serves on the company’s board of directors, while her sister Anjali is its director. Their parents remain active in the company, with their father as the chief executive officer and mother as the managing director.

2. Radhika Merchant studied at New York University. 

In Mumbai, Radhika completed her basic education at The Cathedral and John Connon School, École Mondiale World School, and received an International Baccalaureate at the B.D. Somani International School. The heiress went on to attain her bachelor’s degree in the United States, majoring in political science at the esteemed New York University.

As a college student, Radhika underwent internships in businesses like India First Organization and Desai & Diwanji. She later on became a business strategy consultant intern at Cedar Consultants in Mumbai, and became a junior sales manager at Isprava, an Indian company catered to luxury real estate. 

3. Radhika Merchant is a classical dancer.

Outside of her businesses, Radhika is also a celebrated classical dancer. The heiress trained in the Indian dance form Bharatanatyam for eight years, under the tutelage of Guru Bhavana Thakar at the Shree Nibha Arts Dance Academy.

4. Radhika Merchant supports several causes.

Like her husband Anant, Radhika holds causes that are near and dear to her heart. Her LinkedIn page lists her passion for animal welfare, civil rights and social action, economic empowerment, education, health, human rights, politics, and social services. Aside from her passion projects and business management, outlets also report that she spends her free time trekking, swimming, and reading.

5. Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani are reportedly childhood sweethearts.

While the world isn’t fully privy to the details of how Radhika and Anant started their love story, a joint statement by their families revealed that the two have known each other for quite some time. Some reported that they were childhood friends, which grew into a full-fledged romance later on in adulthood.  

In December 2022, their engagement was officially announced to the world. This was followed by a grand pre-wedding celebration, and months later, a lavish star-studded wedding on July 12, 2024, attended by the world’s billionaires, politicians, and Hollywood glitterati.
