While Green Bones dominated the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival with six awards, including Best Actor for Dennis Trillo and Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, another star from the film has emerged—and this one has four paws.
Oreo, the cat who portrayed “Kuting” in the film, has captured the hearts of viewers and netizens alike, sparking online discussions about his unexpectedly touching performance.
Netizens React to Kuting from "Green Bones"

Directed by Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza, Green Bones follows the gripping story of Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), a prisoner on the brink of freedom, and Xavier Gonzaga (Ruru Madrid), a determined prison guard set on keeping him behind bars. Amid the intense drama and emotional stakes, “Kuting,” played by Oreo, serves as a quiet yet impactful character in the movie, leaving the audiences in awe.

Oreo’s standout presence has led to a wave of social media posts on X (formerly Twitter), with fans jokingly lobbying for a Best Actor award for the feline. “Best Actor ko sa Green Bones: Kuting,” wrote one netizen. Another tweeted, “Dennis Trillo! His acting chops [are] truly remarkable. He barely [had] lines in Green Bones. Pero nangungusap ang mga mata niya at bawat galaw niya. All the cast actually delivered. Even the cat!”

Who Is Oreo the Cat from "Green Bones"?
Off-screen, Oreo belongs to TNVS driver Mark Repuya, who has been raising him alongside three other cats. According to GMA Pictures, Mark, who lost both his parents and now lives alone, considers his cats his lifeline during difficult times.
At just two years old, Oreo was cast in Green Bones despite having no formal obedience training. Mark credits his bond with Oreo for the cat’s natural ability to work seamlessly on set. “Mabait po kasi ako sa kanya kaya po siguro naging mabait din siya sa akin,” Mark explained. To ensure Oreo’s safety and comfort, the production team had resident veterinarians on-site throughout filming.
Mark shared his pride and disbelief in a TikTok post, writing, “Hindi parin ako makapaniwala na magiging parte ng palabas na Green Bones ang pusa ko. Sobrang nakaka-proud ka Oreo, labyu nak.”
