Philippine golf is in good hands, if our Olympians have anything to say about it! During the 2024 Paris Olympics, Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina fronted the Philippines, where they placed impressive rankings during the four-day event for Women’s Individual Stroke Play.

Dottie, in particular, previously made headlines for voicing her concerns regarding the lack of uniforms for the Filipino golfers. The athlete has since then grown a following after her candid statement, as supporters cheered her on amid the struggles and challenges they’ve faced.

1. Dottie was 30 years old at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

The Filipina golfer was born on December 2, 1993, making her 30 years old during her run at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While Dottie was born in Calamba, Laguna, she is currently based in Seminole, Florida, United States.

2. In 2006, Dottie was the youngest player ever to compete at the World Amateur Team Championships.

Like her fellow Olympians, Dottie started her sport young at the age of five and credits her dad as the one who influenced her career. At her tender age, the golfer was already making leaps in the sport. According to her Olympics.com profile, Dottie, at age 12, was the youngest player to ever compete at the World Amateur Championships in 2006, where she represented the Philippines in the Espiritu Santo Trophy. The golfer went on to a professional route in 2013.

3. She qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. 

While the 2024 Paris Olympics marks her official debut as an Olympian, Dottie already previously qualified for the quadrennial Games. The golfer was given the green light for the 2016 Rio Olympics, but she eventually pulled out of the Philippines’ contingent due to the threat of the Zika Virus. Eight years later, Dottie made her official Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

4. She likes to draw.

Outside of golf, Dottie spends her time engaging in other activities. According to her Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) profile, she enjoys drawing, shopping, and hanging out with her cousins while off the golf course.

5. She had an impressive ranking at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dottie proved her finesse in the sports during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she had a gradual yet steady race throughout the four rounds. The golfer ended the first round at the 40th spot with a four-over par, which eventually increased by the day–a joint 36th during the second and then 23rd to the second round, and then an impressive joint 13th alongside Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai, Spain’s Azahara Munoz and Canada’s Brooke Henderson.
