Before he solidified his status as one of the most recognizable chefs on Korean television, Choi Hyun Seok became a household name as a regular cast member on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator. The 2014 cooking variety show, which challenged celebrity chefs to create gourmet meals with only the contents of a guest’s refrigerator in just 15 minutes, showcased Hyun Seok’s talent for creating dishes under pressure. Known for his “brutal honesty and charming audacity,” his performance on the show was widely praised, propelling him into mainstream success.

Choi's culinary journey began in the mid-’90s, honing his skills at the Italian restaurant La Cucina before advancing to other establishments like Elbon the Table and Tasty BLVD. In 2017, he opened his own restaurant, Choi Dot, where he fuses European techniques with Korean flavors. The restaurant name reflects Hyun Seok’s belief that his dishes “need no further explanation,” symbolized by the “dot” or period after his surname.
