Although each film tells a one-of-a-kind narrative, he has a very specific way of presenting his films that will tell you immediately that it's a Wes Anderson film. From how he color grades his movies to the way he frames each scene, his signature style is so distinct.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when recreating Wes Anderson’s style for your Tiktok or Instagram reels.

How to Do the "Wes Anderson Trend" for Your Social Content

1. Choose the right font combinations.

Wes likes to use a couple of fonts for his movies. His favorite is Futura (Futura Heavy, Futura Bold, Futura Medium), but he occasionally uses other fonts, such as Tilda (which was custom-made for Moonrise Kingdom) and Archer (seen in The Grand Budapest Hotel).

2. Don’t be afraid of bold colors.

The director is also very particular about the colors that he uses. He loves vivid and bold colors such as red and yellow. He not only uses it for aesthetic purposes but to highlight a character's personality or to make them stand out from the crowd, as if he's making sure everyone knows “this is the main character!”

3. Symmetry and Tableau are key elements to take note of.

Some might find too much symmetry in a movie quite off since it gives the feeling of being staged, but that’s exactly the magic of Wes Anderson films. The symmetry gives the film a playful touch, that even the most boring things become dynamic looking. He loves to use Tableau in his films too, where the actors and objects in the frame are arranged in an almost painting-like setup. He usually uses this style of framing when introducing new characters or when setting the scene.

4. Limit camera movement.

Unlike most films these days that make use of almost every camera angle and movement possible, Wes limits his camera movement to only “flat space camera moves.” His camera is always on a tripod, and it only pans, tilts, and zooms. For his iconic tracking shots, he uses a dolly shot where a camera (still attached to a tripod) moves along a track to follow the main object or character in the scene.
