We have a new Miss Universe! Victoria Theilvig of Denmark was named Miss Universe 2024 on November 17 in Mexico City. The blonde beauty, who recently turned 21 years old, bested 124 other hopefuls to win the Filipino-designed “The Light of Infinity” crown by Jewelmer.
Victoria earned her title after answering the final question: “Miss Universe has inspired generations of women. 1. She's Denmark's first Miss Universe
Victoria’s win marks history for Denmark as she officially became the pageant’s first ever Danish title holder. At just 21 years old, she quickly became her nation’s pride and joy. Before Victoria’s achievement, Denmark’s highest placement in the competition was a first runner-up finish in 1963.
2. She became a business owner at 16
She’s not just beauty and brains, but she’s also an entrepreneur with a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. At the young age of 16, Victoria was able to put up her own eyelash extension company. In an interview with Dyan Castillejo, she shared, “I love to connect with my customers, I love to make them feel at home. If there's something in there heart they want to share, I'm always there to listen and for me that's such a wholesome experience while being creative.” Aside from her pursuit in the beauty scene, Victoria also works in the jewelry industry where she specializes in diamond sales.
3. She prepared for Miss Universe by traveling
Prior to the pageant, Victoria made sure that she’s seen it all. In preparation for Miss Universe, the beauty queen actually went around the whole globe. She explained, “I believe that we need to bring a little each of something from all around the world so I will get a 360-degree private tour of Miss Universe.” A few of the countries she visited include Greece, Indonesia, and Spain.
4. She’s an animal protection advocate
Victoria has a deep passion for animal welfare. A major part of her advocacy as a beauty queen is to shine a light on wildlife conservation issues. She’s also a staunch voice for the humane treatment of animals and speaks on sustainable practices that industries can take, especially if their businesses affect animal habitats. A month before Miss Universe, Victoria visited Dyreværnet, an animal protection organization that provides "medical care, shelter, and love to animals who have faced neglect or abuse."
5. She’s a professional dancer
Yep, she's also a talented performer. As someone who enjoys expressing herself through movement, she makes sure to impart her knowledge of the craft onto others as a dance instructor. "Dance has always been my escape, my way to express myself and connect with others," she said in a post-pageant interview.
