"This is in 2016 January when I was first diagnosed with third stage breast cancer," Dr. Vicki Belo said in her most recent Instagram reel. "It was a very scary and difficult time for me because all the doctors wouldn't give me any assurance that I would get well," she shared.

She took to the social media app to share a few never before seen pictures detailing one of the most difficult and terrifying times in her life. "This is me with Scarlet, she was only one year old and I was so afraid she'd grow up without a mother."

"After I did my six chemotherapies here, I went to Atlanta, Georgia, (stayed with my sister, Karen,) to do my radiation in the States," she explains. Unfortunately, her treatment coincided with her daughter Cristalle Belo's wedding and she had to do double radiation treatments every day for two weeks to make it in time.

"I felt really sick. I remember people were bashing me. My dress was ugly, I look bad. I guess they didn't know what I was going through," she said.
She finished her reel by offering a bit of advice: "I'm sharing this video for you, for anybody out there who's going through cancer. Because here I am in 2023 seven years cancer-free. And all I have to tell you is all you have to do, really, is pray because our Jesus Christ with a big C is much bigger than cancer with the small C."
Just goes to show you never really know what a person is going through, and that we all deserve a little kindness. We're glad to hear you're so much better now, Dr. Vicki! Congratulations on being seven years cancer-free.
