It’s typical for students to live in a dormitory, where a smaller space and communal living is often worth the compromise for cheaper rent and easier logistics. For young professionals, renting a condonominium might seem like the next level to experiencing adulthood, but this becomes near impossible for those who are on (or are starting with) a tight budget.
This is especially true for those who work in busy cities like Makati, where condominium rent will cost over P30,000 on average for a studio unit in Salcedo Village and Legaspi Village. Nearing Rockwell Center, this figure shoots up to P40,000—and all this data was from the pre-pandemic (and pre-inflation) era of 2019. We can only imagine how much the cost of living has skyrocketed since then.
The growing traffic problem isn't giving Filipinos much of a choice but to succumb to these rental prices, either.
A new co-living space in the Metro claims to be the solution to this problem. Located in San Antonio Village, The Grid Co-Living is students and working professionals in Makati City who want the affordability of a dormitory with the amenities of a condominium.

At The Grid Co-Living, there’s a study and work lounge on every floor. On the rooftop is a swimming pool and a lounge area. A fully-equipped gym is also available for those who like to keep in shape. This co-living experience makes for social opportunities that can't be found in condominiums, which is especially beneficial for students or professionals who are new to the city.
You’ll also find a café, laundromat, and convenience store at the commercial spaces in the first and second floor of the building, which make these everyday services much more accessible to its residents.
This new space is just a few minutes away from the Makati Central Business District. The Grid Co-Living is also strategically placed near public transportation like the Ayala MRT Station, as well as the Buendia and Chino Roces bus stops.
Renting bunk beds in the Triple and Quadruple Rooms are easily the cheapest options at P5,400 to P7,000 on The Grid Co-Living’s offering. You pay per bed, which is priced differently for upper and lower bed. Each unit is inclusive of a shared pantry, dining area, and en-suite bathroom.
Multi-bedroom options like the 4-in-1 and the 8-in-1 Rooms are also available for a larger co-living experience. You can each have a solo bedroom in a more spacious apartment with a price of P10,000.
Those who want to live on a budget without sacrificing privacy can opt for the Single Room for P15,000 that is akin to a small studio unit. It’s a completely private space for one that can allow residents to “jump back into communal spaces at a moment’s notice."
The Grid Co-Living is also offering short-term stays for transient guests starting at P1,750. You can avail of The Grid Co-Living's special pre-opening rates until May 31.
