Got milk tea and Taipei on your mind? There’s no need to rush your travel plans just yet, as Taiwan’s visa-free entry for Filipinos has officially been extended to 2025.
READ: Taiwan Extends Visa-Free Entry for Philippine Passport Holders to July 2025
On June 4, an advisory from Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs detailed the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which confirmed the extension of the trial visa-free entry program for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025. With this program, Filipino tourists are allowed to stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days.
According to the advisory, the move is in line with Taiwan’s efforts to promote the New Southbound Policy, which “strengthens bilateral exchanges” and attracts tourists while maintaining border security. Taiwan first launched the visa-free travel program for Philippine passport holders on November 1, 2017, and has since been extended every year, with the most recent originally expiring on July 31, 2024.

Taiwan Travel Requirements for Filipinos
With the visa out of mind, travel to Taiwan continues to a breeze, paperwork-wise. Filipinos, however, are required to bring the following on their trip:
- A passport with a remaining validity of at least six months as of the date of entry
- A confirmed return ticket and/or a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for the departure flight.
- Proof of accommodation or hotel booking
- Host and sponsor’s contact information in Taiwan
- Sufficient travel funds to cover the stay
Based on the Bureau’s advisory, it should be noted that vessel or aircraft crew members and personnel who “intend to board to report” are ineligible for this particular visa-free program.
