Let's turn back time to 2017 when rom-com K-dramas filled the entire year. We were either laughing out loud or swooning on our seats, thanks to these iconic series. One rom-com we can't forget is Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and we're happy to report that it's set for a second season—with a different plot and title!
Here's what we know so far about Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon:
The Plot
If you can remember, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon revolves around Do Bong-soon (Park Bo Young), a woman born with extraordinary strength. Her life goal is to become a game designer, and so she accepted the job offer from CEO Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung Sik) who leads a gaming company. Bong-soon did not exactly land her dream job: Instead, she became his bodyguard (and fell in love with him in the process).
The women in Bong-soon's family are all gifted with superhuman strength, and the drama's sequel will focus on her distant cousin, Kang Nam-soon! The plot thickens as Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon will also tell stories about the drug cases in Gangnam.
The Cast
Baeksang Best New actress awardee Lee Yoo Mi is confirmed to take on the role of Kang Nam-soon. Like Bong-soon, she's also one bubbly girl who is literally powerful. When she was young, Nam-soon got lost in Mongolia and she traveled to Gangnam in high hopes of finding her parents. You've seen Lee Yoo Mi in two popular Netflix dramas—Squid Game and All Of Us Are Dead.

Korean actress Kim Jung Eun will portray Nam-soon's mother, Hwang Geum-joo. She's a rich woman (also with immense strength) living in Gangnam and is in search of her lost daughter. Kim Jung Eun starred in a long list of dramas but you'll remember her in the Koreanovelas Lovers In Paris, I Am Legend, and Ohlala Couple.

Veteran actress Kim Hae Sook will transform into Nam Soon's maternal grandmother, Gil Joong Gan. She's also one strong woman! Kim Hae Sook is dubbed as the "Nation's Mother" for having played sooooo many roles as an eomma (mother). We have recently seen her in Start-Up, Hospital Playlist, and Tomorrow.

Since Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon is a rom-com, you're probably wondering who's going to be the male lead? It's none other than Ong Seong Wu! He will play detective Kang Hee-sik, the guy that makes Nam-soon's heart beat fast. The actor, who was cast in At Eighteen and More Than Friends, is also a K-pop idol: He's a solo artist and a member of the K-pop boy group Wanna One.

As for the drama's villain, the character will be portrayed by Byeon Woo Seok who starred in Record Of Youth and Welcome To Waikiki 2.

The Crew
The drama will be penned by Mine writer Baek Mi Kyung and helmed by Work Later, Drink Now director Kim Jung Sik.
Release Date
According to reports, the series will air early next year and filming starts this summer!
