Warning: This article contains potential spoilers for Squid Game Season 2 and 3.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Squid Game Season 2 actress Park Gyu Young, who plays Kang No-eul, a North Korean defector-turned-pink-soldier, shared what seemed to be an innocent photo of herself resting on set. But eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted something that could reveal more than Netflix intended about the series’ future.

In the background of Park Gyu Young’s photo, another pink-suited character could be seen. Observant fans identified the figure as Lee Jin Wook, who plays Park Gyeong-seok in Squid Game Season 2. Gyeong-seok, a desperate father who entered the games to win money for his sick daughter’s treatment, was thought to have been killed by a pink soldier in Episode 7.
However, Gyu Young’s photo suggests otherwise. Could Gyeong-seok have survived and been forced into the role of a pink soldier, just like Hwang Jun-ho in Season 1? This revelation could hint at a significant storyline for Season 3.
Adding fuel to the fire, Kang No-eul’s character was portrayed as having a growing empathy for Gyeong-seok throughout Season 2, particularly after a touching scene involving his daughter at an amusement park.
Netflix is known for its strict measures to prevent spoilers, especially for blockbuster series like Squid Game. Reporters attending press conferences must sign NDAs and contracts for actors reportedly include severe penalty clauses for leaking sensitive information.
Although Gyu Young quickly deleted the rumored spoiler, screenshots of the image have circulated widely across online communities. In response, Saram Entertainment, Gyu Young’s agency, provided a comment the same day, stating, “Please refer to the details in Season 3 for confirmation.”
In a recent interview with Newsen, Lee Seo Hwan, the actor who portrays Jung-bae in the series, mentioned the penalty fees included in contracts to deter spoilers. If Netflix chooses to enforce these penalties, those who violate the provisions could face significant financial repercussions. For now, fans can only guess if it's truly a spoiler—or, potentially, a clever fakeout.
