The 2023 Sparkle Spell Halloween Party was a night of tricks, treats, and a whole lot of fun. The Kapuso network's best talents gathered at XYLO at The Palace in their most frighteningly fabulous attire last October 22, with looks ranging from beloved TV show characters to niche pop culture references.
Ahead, we list down some of the most memorable moments at the star-studded affair.
Highlights from the Sparkle Spell 2023 Halloween Party
1. Derrick Monasterio arriving on a horse as Achilles
Kicking things off with a bang was Derrick Monasterio, who arrived as the valiant Greek warrior Achilles. The actor didn't walk alone though, as he strided the black carpet aboard a full-grown horse! Such a moment reminds us of Bianca Jagger's iconic entrance at the iconic Studio 54. Giddy up!
2. Kyline Alcantara being unrecognizable as the "Night King" from Game of Thrones
Someone who pulled out all of the stops for their costume was Kyline Alcantara, who was completely unrecognizable as the Night King (or rather, Queen) from Game of Thrones. As a certified fan of the show, it was simply imperative for her to pay tribute to it at this year's spooky affair. Drian Bautista was responsible for the intricate prosthetics, which took three hours to complete!
3. Sassa Gurl stealing the spotlight with her "condolence costume"
The party doesn't start until Sassa Gurl walks in. In celebration of All Hallow's Eve, the TikTok star decided to come as a funeral wreath herself, garnering chuckles and praise from netizens.
4. David Licauco and Jak Roberto were twinning as Zoro from One Piece
The One Piece anime experienced a resurgence in popularity over the past year, thanks to the Netflix live-action series. So, it was no surprise that several gents at the event decided to dress up as its characters. Two individuals who both thought of coming as the charming Zoro were David Licauco and Jak Roberto. These guys are definitely making green hair happen!
5. Alden Richards "not wearing a costume"
With all the theatrics throughout the evening, Alden Richards' arriving in a graphic t-shirt and jeans came as a surprise. Before he closed out the black carpet, he revealed to Preview that he was actually dressed as his character in his new movie Five Break-Ups and a Romance. "Ano pa bang mas malaking horror (...) kaysa [yung] masira yung ating buhay," he says. Click play on our reel below to find out the meaning behind his look.
6. Barbie Forteza winning the Star of the Night award.
Capping off the evening were some special awards, which ranged from Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz bagging the "Most Fabulous Couple of the Night" trophy to Derrick Monasterio being named the "Black Carpet Stunner."
One of the big winners of the event was Barbie Forteza, who was the "Star of the Night" as Daenerys Targaryen. Long live the queen!
