In an episode of musician and actress Kang Min Kyung’s vlog series, Song Hye Kyo’s stylist Kim Hyun Kyoung candidly recalled a heartfelt memory of when the actress aided her during a time of need.
The stylist, while sitting at a table with Hye Kyo and her friends, looked back at the moment during her early 20s when she resided in a “gosiwon” or a small single-room residence, typically known for being affordable. While she was making ends meet, the stylist received a call while working, which informed her that her mother was gravely ill.
“'I thought, ‘I can’t keep working. I need to go home and help my mom and family.’ So, I hurriedly left for my hometown without even informing Hye Kyo,” Hyun Kyoung recalled, as translated by X user K-Drama Handle. Despite leaving the city without Hye Kyo’s knowledge, the stylist was shocked to realize that a large amount of money was credited to her bank account.

“An unimaginable amount of money was suddenly deposited into my account. When I asked the manager about it, he told me, ‘Hye Kyo asked me to send it to you,’” Hyun Kyoung said.
While the money Hye Kyo had given was a great deal of help, the actress remained humble when addressing it. “It wasn’t the money itself that mattered the most—it was what Hye Kyo told me back then,” the stylist explained. “She said, ‘I’m so sorry that all I can give you right now is money. I wish I could be there with you. I’m sorry I can’t be by your side during such a hard time.’ I cried so much when I heard that.”

Song Hye Kyo’s appearance on Kang Min Kyung’s vlog is part of her promotional efforts for Dark Nuns, which she co-stars with A Time Called You and Vincenzo actress Jeon Yeo Bin. In the vlog, the actress shared her thoughts on the promotion process, saying, “This is the first time I’ve done a promotion for my project since My Brilliant Life. Promotional methods have changed so much, but I also wanted to try something new so I thought about appearing on Min Kyung’s YouTube channel,” a translation reads. “I even tried to persuade her. It’s been a long time since I last filmed myself back in high school days.”
During Hye Kyo’s birthday celebration documented in the vlog, the actress took a moment to reflect on her long-standing friendships. With a hint of humor, she remarked, “We’ve been together for 20 years… I’m tired of them.”

As they reminisced about their shared experiences, one close friend recalled an unforgettable chapter in Hye Kyo’s career. “There are many unforgettable memories. Hye Kyo decided to film director John Woo’s movie, and it was announced when she came to a film festival with the director and Jang Chen,” the friend shared. However, complications arose, and the film was ultimately canceled. Despite the setback, Hye Kyo's reaction was one of understanding. “I understand you,” she said, showcasing her calm and mature approach in the face of disappointment.
Later that evening, she showed her unwavering support for her friend with a thoughtful gesture—a bottle of champagne accompanied by a note that read, “Be strong unnie (older sister).”
